Dover Cruise Terminal 1 – Port of Dover (UK)(Information for passengers)

Dover Cruise Port is the second largest cruise port in the UK and annually carries approximately 200,000 passengers travelling with 20 different cruise lines.

Cruises set sail from the Western Docks at Dover whilst ferries sail from the Eastern Docks.

The cruise calendar in Dover normally starts from the month of April until late September/October.

Dover cruise terminal ice skating christmas 2016Dover Cruise Terminal 1 opened in 1996 at a cost of over £10 million pounds and is set in the former Marine Railway Station. As a listed building, many of the original features are still evident and provide a flavour of a bygone era.

Recently the terminal has been opened as a Winter Wonderland by the Port of Dover.

Dover Cruise Port Terminal 1 Car parking:

There are on and off site Dover Cruise Car Parking options available to cruise passengers.

On site is convenient, easy to find and situated at the cruise port within easy walking distance of either cruise terminals.

Porters will assist you with luggage and it is recommended that you allow 20 minutes to park and walk into the terminal building.

There are 24-hour security surveillance cameras in operation and the car parks are regularly patrolled by Dover Harbour Police.

 

How to arrive at the Dover Cruise Terminal:

By Road:

Approximately 70 miles from London, the M20 is the best option for most passengers or you can alternatively take the M2/A2.

M20:
The M20 joins the A20.  At the Limekiln roundabout where you will see the Dover Cruise Terminals (Western Docks) signposted to the right. Head right round the roundabout and drive into the terminal car park.

M2:
The M2 merges into the A2 at Faversham. Stay on the A2 until you get to the Eastern Docks roundabout and take a left onto the A20. Head along this road signposted Folkestone/London until you reach the Limekiln roundabout. Take a left into the Cruise Terminals where it is clearly signposted.

By Rail:

High Speed trains from London now service Dover Priory Station (HS1) in just over 1 hour.

Both Cruise Terminals can be easily reached by taxi from Dover Priory Station or a 25 minute walk.

By Coach:

National Express  run a regular coach service to the Dover Eastern Docks (Ferry Port) from London Victoria Coach Station. Approximate travel time is 2hrs 30 mins. (A taxi from the Dover Eastern Docks to the Dover Cruise Port at the Western Docks should take approximately 5-10 minutes).

By Taxi:

There is a taxi rank at Dover Priory train station, the Dover Eastern Docks and outside both cruise terminals.

Car Hire Rental:

Car Hire Rental Agencies Avis, Enterprise and have car rental offices in Dover.
None however are located at the Dover Cruise Terminals but have offices located nearby.

There are a number of hotels within each reach of the Dover Cruise Port.

The Best Western Plus Dover is situated on the water front mid way between the Eastern and Western (Cruise Terminal) Docks. Under 1 mile to the cruise terminals.

The Ramada Hotel Dover is a stylish and contemporary 4 star hotel that sits within beautiful landscaped gardens and is just off the A2 just 4.4 miles,  (a 12 minute drive away).

Foreign exchange services are provided within Cruise Terminal 1 by Dover Eurochange who offer a friendly and efficient service plus possibly the best rates of exchange in Dover. You can contact Dover Eurochange on 01304 210949.
